Protecting the Vulnerable from Catching COVID-19 in Emergency Departments. Sign and Share the Petition

In recent weeks, cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been seen in an increasing number of countries across the world and we expect to see more cases over the coming days and weeks. All countries should have well-established plans to deal with outbreaks of infectious disease and everyone can play an important role in making these plans work, slowing down the spread of Coronavirus.

Public health agencies, telemedicine and community clinics are sending people with suspect COVID 19 to the Emergency Departments (ED) to be assessed and or tested. The ED waiting rooms are often over crowded, there are long waits, admitted patients in hallways and the staff are overworked. Few if any Emergency Departments have a way to separate those with febrile respiratory illnesses from others in their waiting rooms. There some simple and effective actions everyone can take to protect themselves and their wider community, above all the most vulnerable ones.
