Eliana Baici

Currently Full Professor of Political Economy at the Dept. of Economics and Business Studies, Università del Piemonte Orientale, Novara, where she teaches Labour Economics and Economics of Human Capital.

At Università del Piemonte Orientale she is Director of the Interdepartmental Center FoodLink and for 10 years she was Dean of the Dept. of Economics and Business Studies.

The research activity of Prof. Eliana Baici focuses mainly on: (i) public policy analysis and welfare; (ii) the university system, concentrating on some of its inefficiencies, including the high drop-out rates and the phenomenon of delayed graduation; (iii) human and social capital; (iv) many phenomena which characterize the labour market, like unemployment and wage dynamics; (v) local development; and (vi) the agri-food system.

The research projects in which she was involved, with various responsibilities, in the past were financed by: European Community; International Labour Office (ILO), Genève; Italian Ministry of Education; Italian Ministry of Agriculture; Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino (Progetto Alfieri); Fondazione Cariplo; Fondazione Banca Popolare di Novara; Regione Piemonte; Regione Emilia Romagna; Provincia di Novara; Città di Novara; Università del Piemonte Orientale; Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milano; Università di Parma.

She published in peer-review journals, such as Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Education Economics, Scienze Regionali – Italian Journal of Regional Science, Rivista Internazionale di Scienze Sociali.
