Elena graduated in Modern Foreign Languages (BA, 2017) from Università del Piemonte Orientale in Vercelli (Italy). In 2019 she obtained a Master's degree in Languages, Culture and Tourism from the same university. In 2025 she earned her PhD in Global Health, Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Medicine at CRIMEDIM, working on a doctoral project focusing on the health consequences of conflict-related sexual violence on survivors.
Elena is now a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at CRIMEDIM, where she coordinates the educational activities of the PhD program. She is currently involved in two main projects, Horizon Europe PREPSHIELD (Preparedness for Society in Health Crises and Disasters) and DiPP-CoN (Disaster Preparedness Capacity Development Program for Family and Community Nurses), which aims to facilitate access to primary care and reduce avoidable hospitalizations for patients living with ambulatory care sensitive conditions, including during disasters.
Her main research interests include gender-based violence, marginalized populations, health equity, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
