Jihan is a medical doctor and Ph.D. candidate at CRIMEDIM, conducting doctoral research in disaster medicine and global humanitarian health.
She graduated from the University of Algiers 1, Benyoucef Benkhedda, with a Doctorate in General Medicine, before pursuing the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree in Public Health in Disasters (EMJMDPHID), a joint programme designed to build capacities for disaster risk reduction and more targeted public health responses following disasters, with a strong emphasis on research in crisis contexts.
Alongside her academic training, Jihan gained extensive field experience with the Algerian Red Crescent, progressing from first-aid officer to coordinating volunteer teams, leading public health campaigns, and serving as a local focal point during the COVID-19 pandemic response.
During her master's studies, she joined the WHO Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) Secretariat in Geneva, where she supported the secretariat's efforts in quality assurance of EMTs, their international classification, and the rapid mobilization and coordination of deployable medical teams during emergencies.
She joined CRIMEDIM's doctoral programme in November 2025, where her research focuses on Emergency Medical Teams and health system resilience.
